The garden at dusk, when the sky deepens from pale blue to royal blue and the first stars appear. A royal blue sinamay base, layered for a deep, solid colour, with loops of crin in two blues sweeping up from the crown, and sprays of tiny blue beads on silver wire scattered through them like early stars.
Every loop of crin is shaped by hand, then sewn in place with invisible hand stitches in my studio in Bowral. Around 5 hours of work go into this hat.
Wear it with: crisp white, navy, silver grey or blush. Worn on the right side, tilted forward over the right brow.
For spring racing, The Everest, the Melbourne Cup, weddings and evening events. Secured with a comfortable headband.
