ABOUT
MICHAETT is a brand born from a deep respect for craftsmanship, elegance, and personal style. My journey with millinery began in childhood, sitting beside my grandmother, who taught me the basics of handwork — patience, attention to detail, and the quiet joy of creating something by hand.
I later developed my skills under the guidance of Hana Hničková, a highly respected milliner known both in the Czech Republic and the Netherlands, where she ran a private school for aspiring hat makers. Her mentorship gave me a profound understanding of structure, materials, and the art of refined simplicity.
For several years, I successfully ran my own studio in Prague, designing hats for clients who sought something distinctive yet wearable. That experience taught me how important it is to listen — to the material, to the shape, and most importantly, to the personality of the woman who will wear the hat.
I have a deep love for classic felt hats, which carry a sense of calm and character. But I also find great joy in the creative freedom of designing statement and occasion hats — exploring colours, sculptural forms, and delicate details. It’s a process that never ceases to inspire me, especially in the moment when a hat comes to life on its wearer.
Today, I create under the MICHAETT name in Bowral, Australia — in a studio surrounded by nature, where there’s space to think, to shape, and to craft with care. Every hat is a unique piece that brings together European roots, traditional techniques, and a gently modern spirit.
