Creating Your Perfect Hat
Some occasions call for something truly personal. A hat created not simply to complement your outfit, but to become part of the occasion itself. The MICHAETT Bespoke Journey is a collaborative process where we create a completely original piece designed around you, your style and the moment you are dressing for.
How does my bespoke journey work?
Your journey begins with a personal consultation, either at the MICHAETT studio in Bowral or online. Together, we discuss your outfit, occasion, colours and the feeling you want your hat to create.
Designing your hat
From the shape and proportions to the materials, colour and embellishment, every element is considered specifically for you. I may develop sketches, explore materials or create handmade details such as sculpted silk flowers to bring the design to life.
What happens during an appointment?
If you’re preparing for a specific event, I recommend finalizing your outfit first. Bringing it with you—or fabric swatches—helps me work with your colours and silhouette. Together, we’ll try different shapes and trims to find the perfect style for you.
Creating your piece
Once the design is agreed, your hat is handcrafted in the MICHAETT studio using traditional European millinery techniques. Depending on the design, fittings may be arranged to ensure the final piece sits beautifully and feels comfortable to wear.
How long does it take?
Most bespoke commissions take approximately 2–4 weeks, depending on the complexity of the design and availability of materials. For important occasions, I recommend beginning the process as early as possible, particularly during Spring Racing season.
What does Bespoke cost?
Every bespoke commission is individually quoted according to the design, materials and craftsmanship involved. Following your consultation, you will receive a personalised quotation before work begins.
